Association Rom pentru Rom is looking for 2 EVS volunteers: EDUCATION & COMMUNICATION
Project title: “Let your voice be heard: Education Voices Society” (EI: 2011-RO-4)
Location: Panciu (Vrancea, Romania)
Start date: September 2013
Duration: 8 months
Hours / days of service per week: 35 hours a week – 5 days of service. Weekend free
Benefits for volunteers: travel costs (90%); food and lodging; linguistic preparation; training specific to the project and the volunteers’ individual activities; insurance; a mentor in the project; monthly volunteer’s allowance.
Requirements: age 18-30, previous experience in the educational field, better if with disadvantaged children, or in the communication field; basic English knowledge, and strong motivation.

Activities: The volunteers will live in a traditional house that the Association Rom pentru Rom earmarks for their hospitality and they will share the accommodation with other international volunteers. The house is simple and it can accommodate up to 6 persons and is equipped with a kitchen, large dining room and two bathrooms. It is located just a few meters from the sites of Rom pentru Rom and the Daily Centre Pinocchio, where volunteers carry out their EVS activities. The volunteers will take care of the house cleaning and the preparing of meals. The food will be provided by the association according to the needs of volunteers.
The project “Let your voice be heard: Education Voices Society” includes 2 volunteers: one of them will deal with the educational sector, while the other one will be involved in the communication activities. The Daily Centre Pinocchio hosts regularly about 40 children, part of whom belongs to the Roma minority of Panciu. The volunteer involved in the educational sector, alongside the local staff, will prepare and carry out education activities for children (after school, non-formal education, workshops on recycling, games, crafts…) and will also participate in coordination meetings of the association and the educational sector.
The other volunteer will be involved in the communication activities of the association. In close cooperation with the local staff, he/she will give support in designing communication and promotional material (leaflets, posters, etc.), in constantly updating the Association’s website and facebook profile, in organizing events to promote volunteering and active participation, in coordination meetings of the office’s staff and of the association in general.
